Quarry House One
Conceptually inspired by the natural contours of Half Moon Bay, the resolution was to follow the quarry toe-line and place a hemi-circular form cantilevered above the quarry lip.
Concrete footings anchored two and a half metres away from the escarpment support the curved slab that appears to float above the rugged quarry face. Extending the site’s existing geometries, the house reads as one continuous curved form.
It offers an engaged and dramatic relationship with the site – suspended above the quarry with eucalyptus leaves in finger’s reach.
